You have likely seen the headlines that the WHO is working on an international treaty for pandemics.
It’s certainly a cause for concern given WHO’s history of mismanagement of decision making.
And while there have been a lot of headlines it’s worth getting some of the facts straight.
Under Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the US Constitution the President has the power to enter into international treaties when 2/3rds of the Senate present for the vote consent.
So the US is a long way from being able to enter into an international treaty.
Now many people say the CDC will look to the WHO for guidance - which they already do. That problem is there whether other countries enter into a treaty or not.
The CDC looking to the WHO is the core issue - whether this WHO internation treaty on pandemics passes or not.
The CDC has shown questionable decision making for a long time now and needs to be examined, investigated and have it’s budget and use of funds reviewed.
Keep your focus where it matters - the CDC. Regardless of what the WHO does and whether their international pandemic treaty gains power or not the core issue in the US for the foreseeable future is the CDC, it’s decision making and it’s overly broad statutory authority (such as the provisions they attempted to use to do a rent moratorium that the US Supreme Court - FINALLY - questioned years later).
