CNBC is reporting that Belgium has started mandatory quarantines for the Monkeypox. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/23/belgium-introduces-mandatory-monkeypox-quarantine-as-global-cases-rise.html
And all of this attention on a new virus right before another election. An election where some states have pulled back on mail-in ballots. Hmmmm.
Here in Florida the wording of Florida statute 381.00315 indicates that whether we get quarantined, isolated, examined, tested or treated for a public health emergency all rests in one unelected person - the state health officers. After 60 days two people are needed - the Governor must sign on too.
I wonder how many folks could be quarantined, isolated, examined, tested or treated in 60 days?
I hope we don’t find out!
There’s no better time than now to contact your Florida representative, Senator, Governor and State Health Officer and tell them we need common sense checks and balances added.
The State shoud only be able to quarantine, isolate, examine, test or treat human beings in the most extreme situations and with due processes of the courts.
There’s no time to wait. This law could be abused any day.
It’s time to fix it.
