Should We Celebrate The End of The “Disinformation Board”?
The details show us it’s too early to celebrate
If you’ve been reading the medial this week you’ve heard the “disinformation board” was paused.
Many have celebrated this win.
A dig just a touch deeper into the comments of the White House Press Secretary reveals this gem (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/press-briefings/2022/05/18/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-and-national-security-advisor-jake-sullivan-may-18-2022/):
“Department’s work across several administrations to address disinformation that threatens the security of our country is critical, and that will indeed continue.”
So while it might not be called a “disinformation board” the government - and homeland security - are still digging for disinformation.
Same potential problem, different name.
We need a government that holds itself accountable. We can accept nothing less.
