Who’s rights are most important?
It’s a question that comes up again and again in politics.
At the founding of the US the founders thought that some rights of people - those inalienable rights - belonged to people and not the government. They literally could not be given away.
Fast forward to the 2020’s and many think the government’s rights come first.
The public’s health - or whatever - is more important than the individual.
Of course as soon as the individual is quashed all liberty is over.
Literally any liberty of any individual could be viewed as harming the collective.
We must err on the side of the individual.
If we err on the side of government power it can be abused at any time.
So be very carefully when others claim “public health.” Never should the public’s interest allow them to quash the individual unless the government can show significant proof their actions are needed.
Having the burden of proof on the wrong party got us the destruction of liberties we saw in 2020.
May we never allow it again.

“Never should the public’s interest allow them to quash the individual UNLESS the government can show significant proof their actions are needed.”
This is the problem.
In The modern era: narrative + manufactured consent = proof. They cannot be allowed “emergency” or “proof” loopholes, NEVER.
Their powers must be clearly defined, their limits clearly defined, and their abuse of power must result in clearly defined consequences.
