Sometimes we wonder if the Florida legislature is even listening to us.
During the November 2021 Special Session the American Freedom Information Institute, Inc. was one of the few (perhaps the only) freedom fighting organization(s) that said the special session bills had a lot of weaknesses.
Fast forward and after the Supreme Court litigation we learn that the State Of Florida is packing it’s bags on the fight against the CMS Mandate (medical workers in facilites that take Medicare or Medicaid money): https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article257679183.html
This was a weakness that AFII pointed out to it’s readers way back.
Meanwhile HB 7021 - a bill that would have lengthened hospitals’ liability protections around Covid - almost made it out of the legislature. The legislature has apparently at least temporarily put a hold on the bill since groups spoke out against it.
But the question becomes how does a bills with know weakness (the vaccine exemptions from November 2021) or bills that the legislature should know a lot of Floridians will oppose make it so far?
It’s an open question but it comes down to political power.
People do what they think they can do.
The politicians didn’t think WE could stop them.
But WE are paying attention. The tide is shifting. But WE must keep reminding them that WE are watching.
In that connection the American Freedom Information Institute, Inc. will be having a LIVE online event to discuss the current legislative session and how to be a stronger advocate:
