Filling The Void Of Information For Your Representatives
Sometimes they just don’t know
Your lawmakers don’t know all of the laws.
It’s a surprising statement to some.
Yet it is very true.
Just like most of us don’t know every law, most of our elected officials don’t know all of the laws either.
Sometimes we have to fill the void.
I can tell you they are often surprised about some laws - like Florida’s forced medical treatment law (381.00315).
So we, as advocates, need to think about how to bridge that gap.
How to make it easy - and not embarrassing - to educate our legislators.
We also need to think about how to get the same issue in front of them multiple times.
Just like most of us need multiple lessons to learn something they do too.
NOTE: While legal issues are discussed this is education and is not legal advice. It is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. Please consult your own attorney on your situation and to get legal advice about your circumstances. Courts are unpredictable may disagree with the author’s opinions.
