It’s been said - throughout American history - that "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty".
But honestly most Americans have been lulled into thinking that that vigilance is being done by others. Perhaps all those taxes we pay is paying others to do the vigilance for us.
Yet most of us have learned that vigilance is a non-delegable duty. It’s just not something you can hand off. At least not far.
Way back when I was first studying accounting I was trained that one of the best controls you can have in business is having the owner watching the money coming in. Going directly to the bank statements to see what’s coming in and out.
Now even though we, the citizens, should be viewed as the owners of the government they don’t always view us in that role.
But we have to change that.
We need to get hands out. We need to put in constant attention and monitoring.
And what we really need is groups and teams that do the monitoring.
It’s our duty. If you are looking to bite off a little something in collaboration with the American Freedom Information Institute, Inc. let me know.
