Michael Gerber, the legendary author of the E-Myth series of business books, argues that most business owners are in the Do, Do, Do mode.
They just keep doing things.
The most successful business owners shift from mere doing to building systems and processes.
Because if you want build a successful business, over the long term, systems are much more important than mere activity.
Once again business lessons from the business world inform advocacy work.
I see many advocates excited to do.
It doesn’t even matter much what they are doing.
The thrill of responding to an emergency and doing is emotionally more important to them than getting medical freedom.
Sadly just like being a “do, do, do” business owners holds back the business the same goes for “do, do, do” advocacy.
So here’s the tough question:
Are you working to accomplish your goals? Or are you staying busy doing?
Looking forward to your honest answers below.
But the way the amazing Bill Wallace once got Michael Gerber to do a live meeting and interview with me, R. Shawn McBride. You can check it out here:
Lots of good non-profit and advocacy lessons in there!
